The Short Mat competitions, which ran over the winter months, concluded with a Presentation Evening on Saturday 6th April and marked an end to the closed season. Results of the competitions are shown below.
Unfortunately, due to the excessive wet weather the Opening Drive, planned for Saturday 13th April, had to be cancelled; very disappointing but necessary. We all now await the use of the green to begin the outdoor season as we have an abundance of fixtures planned for league, friendly and club competitions.
We are delighted that we have three newly qualified coaches, giving us a total of four. This means we will be running comprehensive coaching sessions on Monday evening for "beginners" and others.
The projects under consideration for this year are installing solar panels and building additional changing space / sun lounge on the patio.
Short Mat Presentation
A number of short mat leagues take place over the winter months. The awards to winning teams were presented on Saturday 6th April.
Pairs Competition
Six teams entered so played 20 matches of 14 ends.
The 2023-4 season was won by the Golden Eagles team of Clive Randall, Scott Winskill, Eve Millidge and Mark Hancock. They had an impressive season, winning all 20 of their games. So with a maximum 40 points and a +300 shot difference were worthy winners.
Rinks Competition
5 teams entered so played 16 matches of 18 ends.
It was a close competition, which was finally won by the Lillies team of Stuart Rayner, Mark Leonard, Leann Rayner, Maggie Minchington-Smith, Gordon Belcher and Scott Winskill. They won 20 games so took the title with 20 points.
Triples Competition
4 teams entered, so played 18 games of 15 ends
This league was comfortable won by the Lions team of Stuart Rayner, Adam Ridley, Les Sullivan and Leann Rayner. They won 15 of their games and drew one, so ended the season with 31 points.
