Community Groups and Services
Sutton-on-Trent Primary School
Situated in spacious grounds, and including the original Victorian building with the old head teacher’s house still attached, the school has served the local community since 1878. In September 2017 the school entered into a formal Collaboration with Elkesley Primary and Nursery School and both Schools also enjoys a close partnership with Tuxford Academy.
Sutton-on-Trent Sports and Community Centre
Situated on Grassthorpe Road, the current facilities include one full size senior football pitch and two training pitches all maintained to a high standard and benefiting from flood lighting. The club building includes changing accommodation and two function rooms with a separate bar area and a maximum capacity for 150 people.
The Sutton on Trent Festival, run by the Sutton on Trent Village Fund raises charitable funds to be distributed around the local area. The festival is a reflection of the strong community spirit in Sutton and the surrounding villages.
Sutton-on-Trent Community Partnership Library
Our library is staffed by a dedicated team of volunteers and is open Tuesdays and Fridays between 2pm and 5pm and on Saturdays between 9.30am and 12.30am.
Sutton-on-Trent Methodist Community Centre
Started in 1738 by John Wesley the Methodist Church has undergone many changes over the past 200 years. Today there are over 6,000 Methodist churches in Britain with a total membership of about 330,000 people. Sutton Church is one of eleven that makes up the Newark and Southwell Circuit. Located on the High Street, regular services are held on a Sunday at 10.30am.
The Community Centre is also used by other village organisations such as the Women's Institute, History Society and Parish Council as a venue for their regular meetings.
Unity is a village magazine published monthly covering not just Sutton-on-Trent but the surrounding villages and is filled with news and articles from the community groups, churches and sports clubs. An active Facebook page keeps everyone updated on local news and activities along with sharing posts from local authorities and Notts. Police.
Public Transport
Marshalls of Sutton on Trent operate the local bus service which is a fully super low floor, wheelchair accessible service, running hourly 6 days a week from Newark bus station to Retford bus station, via Tuxford. Marshalls also operates the school bus service to Newark and Tuxford Academy.
