Area Considerations

Workshop Environment

Our workshop environment includes some small steps, ramps and some slightly uneven surfaces. We also have machinery that can be dangerous. Please consider if you could move safely around this type environment without bumping into people who are using machinery. Safe movement may include the use of support devices e.g walking frames or walking sticks?

Use of Tools / Manual Dexterity

In order to get the most from shed you will need to use our tools and equipment. Could you use tools and equipment safely, maintaining control of them at all times.

Working Independently

Whilst new members can get help and support from existing members, all members are responsible for their own safety. Could you carry out activities that require simple problem solving in a safe manner without the need for very close supervision?

Memory

We all forget things from time to time, thats no problem. To be safe at the shed you will need to be able remember things like how to use machinery and equipment safely without putting yourself or others in danger.

Social Environment

We are a friendly group this means you will often hear friendly banter at the shed. This might be something you miss after retirement, in this case we have got you covered. We do not however, tolerate any form of verbal or physical aggression. We ask that members act in respectful and polite manner at all times.

After taking the table above into consideration, we hope that you will now have a good idea if the shed is a good fit for you.  If you are sill not sure, or would simply like to visit us before making your mind up, then please get in touch with us using our contact form.
