Chairman's Updates
Tendring Parish Council News.
Leaving the cold winds of Winter behind, and looking forward to longer days and some sun ,seems to sum up this time of the year. This is the time of the year when we look at things with a new focus. If we can all clear up any litter from in front of our properties that would really improve the village. This month I saw a mother and child picking litter from School road-thank you for caring enough to do this and not expect others to do it!
The Parish Council hosted an information event this month about the Local Plan. Mr Paul Wood Planning Policy leader for Tendring District Council gave us information about the likely developments which the Local Plan suggests. It was a very informative evening and thanks to Paul Wood it was all a lot clearer after his presentation. Many Villagers attended this and other information evenings around the area and I hope they put in their comments to Tendring District Council by the 23rd March as advised in my last article. It is only by getting involved that our views will be taken into consideration. The Parish Council debated the Local Plan and will submit their comments which included concerns about
- The impact on traffic in the village (from Horsely Cross, Thorpe Le Soken and Weeley ).
- Type of traffic and increase traffic level (including buses and construction lorries).
- Speed concerns (including the Street ,Crow and Crown Lanes).
- Lack of pavements making it inaccessible for pedestrians.
- Healthcare including pharmacies, doctors, hospitals and dentists.
- School provision
- Water supply.
- Inadequate lighting to ensure pedestrian safety.
Developments continue at the Goose Green play area with repairs to the Car park in progress as I write this. This was funded by the School with the annual costs for maintenance shared between the School and Parish Council. It is so important that all organisations work together to improve our Village. Thanks to the School for the substantial contribution to repairing the surface of the Car park.
Preparations continue for the fourth annual Scarecrow festival to be held 2-4 May. This year the profits will go to a local resident John Parry who is currently in training to walk from Lowestoft to St Davids in Wales -only 462 miles. John is 78 years old with a Cancer diagnosis! The Village Hall will be open on Saturday May 2nd from 11am-2pm serving bacon rolls ,refreshments and cakes .Please come and join us. The theme this year is Countries if you would like to make a scarecrow please let me know which country you would like to represent so I can check to see if that country is already represented. Trail maps will be available from the Village hall on the Saturday or from Yew tree Cottage on Sunday and Monday between 12-2pm.
