Sister Mattie Grinnell,
101-year-old Warrior of the Indigenous Contingent of the Poor People’s Campaign

Yes, the Earth bounded us on a new sunshine of life
Through the winds of change, she stood as a fruit of righteousness
Marching down the streets of Washington, DC,
with her strength that would break chains and contamination of hunger, of lack of education, of jobs,
Freedom and Justice
With her demands, she spoke in the halls of Congress in all departments
While the songs were reaching the air,
that nobody is going to turn us around no more.
Her voice was the voice of humanity, even that years have gone past.
She stood as a hero above the stars.
Yes, today and forever
I honor you, Brave Warrior, Sister Mattie Grinnell
Yesterday was today, and we were all in a circle of a powwow to heal.
Thank you, the love you gave us
Presente!
