Coaching for Existing Players
Wellington BC
Given the lack of competitive bowling that has been possible during the last two seasons, it is felt that players will benefit from regular, progressive practice to sharpen skills and performance before the various league campaigns begin shortly.
Coached practice sessions particularly aimed at all men or lady players who intend to take part in the league and cup competitions that the club has entered. The purpose of the sessions is to introduce practice drills for individuals to use to help improve their own consistent delivery and performance.
The first sessions are arranged for Tuesday 3rd May and Thursday 12th May, starting at 6pm.
(Other dates or times may be possible, to suit individual needs or availability)
The Selectors are keen that intending league players should take advantage of the opportunity early in a new season to rebuild and develop performance levels before the competitions start in earnest.
PLEASE NOTE: THESE SESSIONS ARE NOT ROLLUPS.
Participants will be expected to keep a note of their own progress and to continue their development through regular practice using the drills they will be given. These practice drills are equally applicable regardless of gender, as they are intended for personal use. Progress records are for individual use only and are not shared.
The routines have been “borrowed” from material published by bowls clubs and associations in Australia and New Zealand and have been seen to be effective in the highly competitive bowls environment in the Southern Hemisphere.
There will be other sessions and routines offered later in the season, which may suit newer bowlers, or those whose plans are mainly to bowl for social pleasure.
If you would like more information about the scheme, or to discuss your own individual coaching needs, please contact one of the club coaches.
