The SBA held a Zoom meeting with Bowls England yesterday and, whilst they have drafted COVID safe ‘Return to Play’ guidelines, these cannot be circulated until approval is given by the DCMS. We are not the only sport seeking clarification and it may not be a quick process.

BUT

Bowls in some form or other can definitely start from Monday 29th March (in reality this will be mid-April for most Clubs).

It is unlikely that fours will be possible until later in the summer (but we need DCMS clarification on this – ‘never say never’).

There will definitely be National Championships culminating in finals at Leamington, but some changes will be necessary.

Johns & Middleton will depend on whether there is an appetite within the Counties to play these and BE will conduct an early consultation process.

BE’s overwhelming priority is to get as many people back bowling in a safe environment as quickly as possible.

I will continue to keep you posted as and when anything concrete is known.

Happy Days.

Ross
