Welcome to Westbrook Bowls Club.

Friendly lawn bowls club located overlooking the Thames Estuary on top of the cliffs at Westbrook Bay about a mile from the golden sands of Margate beach. We are lucky to have a lovely setting for our club and on a summer day there is nowhere better.

Westbrook Bowls Club, is managed and operated by its members, and was formed in 1935 is affiliated to Bowls England and KCBA (Kent County Bowls Association) and offers a warm welcome to new members of all abilities, ages, genders, and experience.

The club, which has 6 rinks, is leased from Thanet District Council who own the freehold.  In 2015 we applied for, and were granted planning permission to extend the club house and with the help of a grant from Sports England and The Lottery Fund the club house was extended in 2016 which allowed us to offer sports activities such as carpet bowls, darts and table tennis during the winter months when outside bowls cannot be played.  The grant also enabled us to repave the front of the clubhouse as well as resurfacing around the green.

The outdoor bowls season runs from the end of April until the end of September and the club play friendly and league matches in the local area as well as further afield.

Throughout the bowling season we have friendly roll-ups for our members, these take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon commencing at 1.45 for 2pm and last about 2 hours or so with a tea break halfway. The roll-ups are a good way to introduce the game to new members and allows them to develop and hone their bowling skill.

For beginners, our club coach offers coaching sessions on a Monday afternoon commencing at 2.00 pm, the first three sessions are free.

We have included a few Tutorial Videos to help new players and those who may wish to improve their play. Please click on the link above or alternatively you’ll find them in the ‘Tutorial Videos’ sub page under the ‘Overview Of The Game’ tab.

We are a mixed Club and play, men's, ladies' and mixed friendly and competitive matches with clubs in the surrounding areas. In addition to these matches the club also run in house competitions which are played throughout the bowls season with the finals being played over a weekend mid September.

During the year we hold fun days and charity days and these are noted on the noticeboard in the club house.

We are happy to host for other institutions as well so if you belong to any other social clubs and bowls might be of interest let us know and we can organise a taster session. We have for example hosted a Brownies and Scout group.

During the winter season the club is open for members to play cards, carpet bowls, darts and table tennis.  Details of these activities are posted on our social media sites, website and on the noticeboard in the clubhouse at the end of the outdoor bowling season.

We have a welcome pack that describes the Club activities and facilities in more detail. We also have a members only WhatsApp group which we use for communication amongst our members.

Please note: - Due to maintenance the, the bowling green will be unavailable until 12:00 on Monday's and Thursday's
