The Parish Council is consulting on two matters:

1. Reducing streetlighting between the hours of 12midnight and 5am

2. Projects for 2026-27

The deadline for both consultations is 31st January 2026

Proposal: Reducing Street Lighting Between Midnight and 5 a.m.

We are considering a plan to reduce street lighting between 12 midnight and 5 am as part of our ongoing efforts to improve sustainability and community wellbeing.

Why We’re Considering This Change

Reducing lighting during the quietest hours of the night could help us to:

  • Cut energy and maintenance costs – lowering the financial burden of lighting upkeep and power consumption.
  • Save energy and reduce carbon emissions – supporting our commitment to environmental sustainability.
  • Protect the natural environment and local wildlife – minimizing light pollution and disturbances to nocturnal species.
  • Preserve the beauty of the night sky – allowing residents and visitors to enjoy clearer views of the stars.
  • Support community health and wellbeing – reducing unnecessary exposure to artificial light during sleep hours.

The lights managed by Bucks Council or management companies in the following areas will have no change to their lighting: Wendover Road, Aston Clinton Road, Hampden Hall, Westongrove, Aston Reach, The Paddocks, Farenden Fields.

Parish Projects for 2026–27

Have Your Say on Our Future Plans

The Parish Council is currently considering a number of community projects for 2026–27 and would like to hear your views before finalising which initiatives should go ahead.

These projects are designed to enhance our shared spaces, promote community pride, and support the wellbeing of everyone who lives and works in our parish.

Proposed Projects

1. Joint Spatial Plan - Work with neighbouring parishes to develop a joint plan that helps shape and influence where future development should take place.

2. Additional Defibrillators - Provide extra defibrillators across the parish to increase access to life-saving equipment in case of emergency.

3. Decorative Planters - Install planters at the entry points to the village to create a welcoming appearance, encourage drivers to slow down, and promote local pride in our surroundings.

4. Living Christmas Tree - Plant a living Christmas tree behind the Village Hall, with a dedicated power supply for festive lights and decorations, providing a beautiful annual display for the community to enjoy.

5. Flagpole at the Village Hall - Install a flagpole to enable the parish to mark historic, national, and commemorative events throughout the year.

6. Memorial / Celebration Tree - Create a metal memorial and celebration tree as a focal point for residents to commemorate special occasions, milestones, and community events.
