Weston Turville Parish Council
The work of Parish Councils is funded by the precept which is collected by the district council through the Council Tax levy.
For 2018-19, Weston Turville Parish Council’s precept will represent a charge to an average Band D household of £56.76 – an increase of 2% or £1.11 per year.
The Parish Council has had to make the decision to increase the precept again for the next financial year for a number of reasons:
It is responsible for a number of assets including the village hall and playing field and street furniture items such as benches, notice boards, bus shelters, litter and dog bins. Many of these are aging and are now in need of maintenance or replacement. This year it is planned to carry out the following:
- extend the fencing around the car park to improve safety for school children
- complete the upgrade of all parish council owned street lights to convert them to LEDs
- extend the village hall to provide new compliant changing rooms, an additional meeting room and parish office
- further improvements to the playing field to encourage healthy life style and provide facilities for all age groups
The Parish Council has also taken on services previously carried out by Bucks County Council, including cutting of grass verges. Bucks CC provide some funding towards the cost of this which reduced after the first year, the remainder of the cost is being met by the Parish Council. This work began in 2015-16 and it has been noted that complaints about the state of the verges are vastly reduced since the Parish Council took responsibility for this
Parish Councils are required to submit an annual return to external auditors, copies of these can be viewed below.
The annual return for 2017-18 is currently with the external auditor, the unaudited accounts can be viewed below.
