Holt Park Tiggywinkles
Holt Park Tiggywinkles
Started in 2022 before Wilder Hook was formed, this group was set up to encourage the opening up of gardens on Holt Park for hedgehogs and to make more people aware of the need to protect them. It is now under the umbrella of Wilder Hook.
As well as private gardens, it has two public sites (owned by Hook Parish Council) which have seen dedicated to hedgehogs. Our site on Peked Mede has many natural features which encourage foraging, such as a Beetle Bank and a compost site plus spaces for hedgehogs to hibernate. Our site on Doctors Acre has a different range of features which encourage foraging, such as a Dead Hedge, soil heaps and pots filled with twigs and pine cones. In addition, it has a hedgehog feeder where we supplement the diet of our hedgehogs with kitten kibble and fresh water nightly. It is managed by a handful of residents.
