Queens Platinum Jubilee

Woore Parish Council was delighted to support the Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations in June 2022, with a Woore Parish Tea Party & Parade on Sunday 5th June 2022. The event was free to attend and open to everyone in the community.

Wet weather failed to put a damper on villagers' spirits in North Shropshire as they came together to celebrate the Queens Platinum Jubilee.

Hundreds of residents came out to support the parade in Woore on Sunday 5th June 2022, despite having the worst weather of the 4-day bank holiday weekend.

The parade featured around 20 tractors, as well as vintage cards, hounds, horses, trailers  and residents in royal fancy dress.

It was supported by Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Shropshire, Ms Anna Turner.

Helen Jackson, Woore Parish Council Clerk, commented, "It was wonderful. Hundreds of residents came out with their brollies.  A tea party followed the parade at Woore Victory hall where there were prizes given out for the best fancy dress, baking and art competitions. The hall as packed to the brim of people enjoying refreshments and a wonderful tea party spread.  We're grateful to each of the volunteers who helped to make the event a success and to the participants of the parade who braved the weather. Mostly we're overjoyed that the residents came out to support the event as a wonderful tribute to a remarkable occasion".

A display of the photographs and video of the event will be presented at a later date with the support of the village hall.
