Celia Matthews (1926-2020)

Celia died on 11th December 2020 at the age of 94, after a stay of a few months in Plas Cwmcynfelin.  She was born in Coulsdon, Surrey where she met her husband David. His family had been bombed out of their South London home in 1941 and moved to Coulsdon. They met as their mothers  attended the same adult education class. After living in Knustsford, David and Ceilia moved to Borth where David lectured at the College of Librarianship Wales, and Celia was a special needs teacher in Newtown.  David and Celia were active in numerous local societies including the Aberystwyth Walking Group and the Friends of Ceredigion Museum, and Celia was Secretary and Honorary Vice-President of the Philomusica of Aberystwyth, in which she played the violin.  Celia's funeral was held on 8th January.  David continues to live in Borth, where he is being supported by his daughters Alyson, Deborah and Elaine.
