Welcome to Belsay Parish Council Website

Belsay Parish is a rural community situated in the heart of Northumberland, renowned for its beautiful countryside and rich heritage.  Belsay village lies approximately five miles from Ponteland on the A696, which links the village with Newcastle upon Tyne and Jedburgh.

The parish includes the villages, hamlets and surrounding areas of Belsay, Black Heddon, Bitchfield, Bolam, Gallowhill, Harnham and Wallridge, and is perhaps best known for the historic Belsay Hall, Castle and Gardens, one of Northumberland's most distinctive heritage attractions.

Belsay Parish Council works to represent the interests of residents, protect and enhance the local environment, and support initiatives that contribute to the wellbeing of the community. The Council considers a wide range of local matters, including planning applications, highways, environmental issues, and local services.

The Council welcomes public participation and encourages residents to attend meetings and share their views on issues affecting the parish. Community involvement plays an important role in helping to shape the future of Belsay whilst preserving the character and heritage that make the area special.

If you wish to contact the Parish Council, please get in touch with the Clerk.

Raising an Issue

If you wish to raise an issue at the meeting, you should advise the Clerk by the Tuesday of the week prior to the meeting so that your issue may be included on the Agenda.  In exceptional circumstances the Chair may allow urgent items to be raised should the issue be significant and within a short timescale.  At the meeting you will be allocated up to 5 minutes to address the Parish Council.
