Planning Applications

Belsay Parish Council is a statutory consultee of Northumberland County Council and is invited to comment on all planning applications within the Parish.

The County Council must take the Parish Council's views into account when determining an application, but it is not required to follow those recommendations.

The Parish Council's role is to provide local knowledge and represent the views of the community. It does not determine planning applications. Decisions are made by the planning committee of Northumberland County Council or, in some cases, by planning officers acting under delegated powers.

Planning decisions are based on the policies set out in the Local Plan, national planning policy, and relevant government guidance.

Planning applications considered by the Parish Council are listed on meeting agendas, and the Council's comments are recorded in the meeting minutes.

To view current planning applications or submit comments, please visit the Northumberland County Council Planning Portal.
