Buckland Dinham Playing Field Association have been managing the playing field since 2004 after it took over from the previous defunct committee who originally dug out and cleared the play area with the help of the local rotary group: they filled the area with bark chippings and added a few pieces of play equipment which were regularly used and were a great asset to the village. This equipment lasted for quite a long time, by 2004 it needed replacing.
The new committee produced what you see today, working hard to procure many grants which totalled approximately £45k.
The present equipment has worn well but needs replacing in the near future - as does the safety surface.
The present committee is very small comprising five people who together run a weekly inspection - for insurance purposes - see to repairs to benches and have a mowing rota for weekly cuts during the season.
BDPFA is a management committee for the Parish Council - it has a representative on the council who gives monthly reports.
The Parish council funded a new mower in 2023 for the playing field. It has since become evident that a more robust mower is required and money is being raised to help replace the present mower.
New goal posts and nets were erected in December 2023 after fundraising took place by the committee and children in the village.
The park is in trust to the village. It belongs to all villagers who are welcome to help keep it clean, tidy and in good repair and initiate and get involved with fundraising.
Since the Parish plan was published, a number of groups have been set up, one of which is BAG - Buckland Amenities Group who have been thoroughly instrumental in the placing of the new goal posts and fundraising. They are currently involved in the task of mending the tall fence behind the play area. BAG are looking for volunteers to help with this job.
BDPFA are a non-profit making Association with a small committee and are happy to accept new members.
