National Highways reports as follows: -

"

Further to the below, National Grid have successfully diverted the cable, enabling works to fully recommence at speed.

Following this, progress has been able to speed up. By the Easter break, the following will be completed:

  • Backfilling of the cable pits;

  • Installation of the final gabion baskets, and backfill to the lower slope;

  • Reinstatement of the embankment up to backscar level throughout the full length of the works.

The following activities are ongoing:

  • Bulk dig to upper slope, which requires direction from temporary works designer as the high level material remains mobile due to water ingress. This is being closely monitored to ensure safety, but is not expected to impede progress.

  • Backfilling to the upper slope.
