About the Carnival

Held on the first Saturday in August, the carnival kicks off with a procession around the town, ending with the crowning of the Carnival King or Queen, before everyone gathers on the historic castle grounds for the show.

The show varies slightly each year but usually includes:

  • The Show Tent, displaying competitions and community efforts
  • Children’s entertainments
  • A wide variety of crafts and stalls
  • Historic vehicles
  • Dog show

Pre-Show Events

In the days leading up to the carnival, many events take place, including:

  • Treasure hunts
  • The multi-terrain Clun Carnival Canter
  • Carnival luncheons
