Visiting the Clun and Red Lake Valleys

Clun and Chapel Lawn are within the Shropshire Hills National Landscape, consisting of forestry, upland mainly livestock farms, Iron Age forts, ancient woodlands and rivers with the Clun being a Special Area of Conservation to safeguard the freshwater pearl mussel.  Clun has a  Castle, Town Hall and Museum, Trinity Hospital alms houses, garden and chapel, Clun Bridge and St Georges Church. The River Redlake is a tributary and sub-catchment of the River Clun.  Chapel Lawn has Bryneddin an ancient wood which retains quillets of land and the impressive Caer Caradoc hill fort. The whole area is full of amazing walks from long trails to short wanders.
