At Clun Bowling Club, every game brings a bit of rhythm to your step and a spark to your day. You’ll be walking, stretching, focusing… and before you know it, your step count is climbing and your heart’s ticking a little faster. But it’s more than just a game.

Joining Clun Bowling Club means:

  • Becoming part of a welcoming mix of newcomers and long-term residents
  • Meeting new people and enjoying easy, team-spirited camaraderie
  • Getting out in the fresh air with gentle, rewarding exercise
  • Boosting mental wellbeing and letting the day’s stress quietly drift away
  • Helping bring younger members of the community into the fold and keeping the club thriving for the future

Whether you’re curious, competitive, or just fancy a new way to spend an afternoon, there’s a place for you on the green.

About the Club

Founded in 1926, Clun Bowling Club sits in a stunning spot overlooking Clun Castle, with panoramic views across the Shropshire countryside. It’s a place where the pace is relaxed, but the atmosphere is always welcoming and sociable. Everyone is encouraged to join, whether you’re completely new or an experienced player. You can play as little or as often as you like, at a level that suits you. Practice sessions run on Wednesday evenings at 7pm and Saturday afternoons at 2pm, ideal for learning the game, improving skills, or enjoying a friendly match. Throughout the summer, there are internal competitions for all, including beginners’ cups, singles, and doubles.

The club also hosts a full programme of friendly matches against neighbouring clubs, often followed by a social drink at the pub. For those seeking more competition, the club plays in the Marches League. Off the green, there’s a strong social side, with regular events and fundraisers throughout the year.

New members are always welcome. Membership for 2026 is £45, giving unlimited access to the green from April to September, offering excellent value. You can also bring family and friends along for £3 per person.

No equipment is needed, everything is provided. Just come along and get involved.
