CCEG

Clun Town Council with Chapel Lawn CCEG

Come and join us!

Clun Climate and Environment Group formed in 2019 to work on  local climate and environment issues and is open to all Clun and Chapel Lawn residents. We liaise with other groups up and down the Clun Valley and are an advisory group to Clun Town Council with Chapel Lawn. We meet monthly by online Zoom.

The Clun Climate Emergency Action Plan, which you can see on this website, sets specific goals about the changes that need to be made and informs our work. We have made good progress on these.

We are an active group. Most of our volunteers contribute to one or more of our projects. These include the River Clun Monitoring Group (with Shropshire Wildlife Trust and Clunbury Climate Group), Verges Group (with Restoring Shropshire’s Verges Project), monthly litter picking and in the summer, Himalayan Balsam bashing along  the river from Waterloo to the Castle, all with the aim or restoring biodiversity. We are also involved in supporting decarbonisation projects in Clun buildings (such as the school, St George’s church and the Memorial Hall) and providing information about resources to improve the carbon footprint of the local built environment.

You can contribute as much or as little as suits you, for instance just lending a hand at an annual event, or being responsible for a key task, such as poster design, or regularly attending the on-line meeting where we talk about our plans and activities are reviewed. Members come from a range of working backgrounds and we are often able to use their existing skills and knowledge. To be as effective as possible in our endeavours we need the thoughts of and input from a wide range of residents…if you are interested in or worried by climate and environmental problems and would like to contribute, please do make contact. We would be happy just to put you on the circulation list!
