Clun Community Cars

Clun Community Cars currently have 11 volunteer drivers after a
recruitment drive during 2025. We have times when we are incredibly
busy, as the hospitals seem to send out their appointments all at once
for an area. We continue to undertake the regular hospital trips to
Shrewsbury, Telford and Hereford with the occasional trips further
afield to Stoke, Dudley and Birmingham.

We take the residents of the Clun Valley to Dentists, Physio and GP
appointments as well as occasionally collecting urgent prescriptions.

Ross French continues to be the coordinator taking the calls and
arranging the drivers. Due to the increased number of dedicated
volunteer drivers, we fulfil most requests, although occasionally we
have to disappoint clients if it is a busy time or short notice.

Anyone who needs transport to a medical appointment should contact
Ross French on 01588 614116. If there is no answer, please leave a
message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. I would ask
clients to remember that we are all volunteers and therefore we are
not available 24 hours a day. We do our best to accommodate as many
people as we can, but it is not always possible.

Clun Community Cars is grateful for a £50 per year grant from the Clun
Town Council to pay for the dedicated phone system used to divert
calls mobile phones to ensure there is no break in our availability
during holidays.

contact Ross to have a chat. It involves an application form to
Shropshire Council who will pay for a DBS Check. It is rewarding work
and you get to know some really lovely people of the Clun Valley.
