Hampshire Highway -Road Closure

EH716 Church Street, East Meon – Drainage Improvement Works.
As part of Operation Resilience, Hampshire County Council’s programme to make
Hampshire’s roads more resilient to the effects of extreme weather and heavy
traffic, this letter is to inform you of upcoming drainage improvement works in
Church Street, between West Meon Road and High Street.

The works are currently programmed to start on Monday 26th September 2022 and
are expected to last for 7 weeks, during which time the road will be closed, however,
they will be carried out in two phases to allow access either from West Meon Road
or High Street/Workhouse Lane.

Whilst there is an allowance within the time periods shown above for delays, there
may be times when we have to postpone works at very short notice; based on the
latest weather forecasts, this can occur just prior to works commencing. We will
always look to provide up to date information wherever we can, but sometimes
these last minute decisions can be difficult to relay to the travelling public in a timely
manner. When we can, any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be
made clear on the yellow sign boards located at the works limits.
For your safety and that of our workforce, if you are located within the extents of the
road closure we are unable to guarantee vehicular access to and from your property
during working hours. Should you need to make an essential journey, please
contact a member of the workforce in advance and they will be able to advise if they
can accommodate your request. Pedestrian access will be available at all times.

Call charges apply. For information see www3.hants.gov.uk/contactus/call-charges
Your name and address will be recorded in our database and may be made available to others only in
accordance with the Data Protection Act2
In order to avoid potential injury or damage, please do not walk within the works
area during the works unless directed by a member of the workforce.
Thank you for your co-operation and if you need more information regarding these
works, you can using any of the options below.

Advanced notice of work - Clanfield Road

To replace approximately 1.5 kilometres of old, unreliable water main in Clanfield Road which has previously burst, causing interruptions to local residents’ drinking water supplies.

The £335,000 project will be split into two sections. The first section will be to lay pipe between Frogmore Lane and Oxenbourne Lane and the second section will be from a point close to South Farm to a location 440 metres south.

Work is set to begin in early November and it is anticipated the project will take approximately four months to complete.

In order to complete this work safely, Clanfield Road will be closed to passing motorists for the duration of the project.

A clearly-signed diversion route, as agreed by the local highways authority, will be in place and access to homes and businesses will always be maintained.

A dedicated project webpage has been set up and can be viewed here: corporate.southeastwater.co.uk/clanfieldroad
