Road Closures

The Penny Mile developers have confirmed that they will ensure that their delivery lorries and subcontractors do not use Workhouse Lane or The Cross during the times that the below closures are in operation.

It has been requested that no HGVs are permitted to use either Workhouse Lane or The Cross during the times of the road closures.

EH716 Church Street, East Meon - Drainage Works

To complete the drainage works on the western side of Church Street
between the Olde George Inn and The Vicarage.

The works are currently programmed to start on 27 January 2023 and are expected
to last for 2 weeks.

In order to undertake the works safely it will be necessary to
close the road to through traffic between 7:30 and 18:00hrs. The road will be open
as normal outside these hours.

Whilst there is an allowance within the time periods shown above for delays, there
may be times when we have to postpone works at very short notice; based on the
latest weather forecasts, this can occur just prior to works commencing. We will
always look to provide up to date information wherever we can, but sometimes
these last minute decisions can be difficult to relay to the travelling public in a timely
manner. When we can, any significant changes to the scheduled dates will be
made clear on the yellow sign boards located at the works limits.

In order to help us to complete the work as quickly as possible, please ensure that
no vehicles are parked on the road on the days of the work.

Please be aware any
vehicles left parked on the road that prevent the works taking place, face the
risk of being removed.

Call charges apply. For information see www3.hants.gov.uk/contactus/call-charges
Your name and address will be recorded in our database and may be made available to others only in
accordance with the Data Protection Act and UK GDPR.2

For your safety and that of our workforce, if you are located within the road closure
we are unable to guarantee vehicular access to and from your property during
working hours. Should you need to make an essential journey, please contact a
member of the workforce in advance and they will be able to advise if they can
accommodate your request.

Pedestrian access will be available at all times.
Thank you for your co-operation and if you need more information regarding these
works, you can use any of the options below.

(EAST MEON: COOMBE ROAD) (TEMPORARY CLOSURE) ORDER 2023

Update: The Parish Council has been working with the utilities contractor to try to reduce the inconvenience resulting from planned roadworks in Coombe Road. The original closures were for 16th - 21st Feb and 23rd to 27th Feb, but the contractor has now decided to fit all the work into one week, starting 16th Feb.

There is a chance that the road will be passable, for cars only, on some days after work has been finished, but this is not guaranteed and depends on progress during the day.

NOTICE is hereby given that not less than seven days from the date of this notice, East
Hampshire District Council pursuant to an arrangement entered into under Section 19 of
the Local Government Act 2000, with the Council of the County of Hampshire, intend to
make an Order under Section 14 of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, as amended by
the Road Traffic (Temporary Restrictions) Act 1991, the effect of which will be to prohibit
any vehicle from proceeding along a length of Coombe Road, East Meon.

Pedestrian access and vehicular access to affected properties will be maintained but
remains a ‘No Through Route’.

The Order is necessary to facilitate and excavate to lay new 4m duct and core drill (“the
Works”).

The alternative route for vehicles will be via Chapel Street, Temple Lane, Comb Road,
Comb Lane and vice versa.

It is expected that the Order will last for approximately 6 months or until the Works are
completed, whichever is the sooner starting on or after 16th February 2023.

Not withstanding the above, it is expected that the closure will be required for 3 days.
