Farringdon An Identity
The consultation period closed on the 25th July 2025.
87% of residents who responded to the consultation (via Farringdon Net / Parish Council Website / FVWAG / Village Facebook / Coffee Morning / Face to face Consultation) supported this project - this has now been sent through to Hampshire County Council who will look at the feasibility and cost out.
There are lots of things included on this Community Funded Initiative (CFI) as otherwise it will cost £850 each time we want HCC to look at something. So, it makes sense to put it all in and then decide individually on each item when the draft plans are ready to present as a proposal. Some of these items are from residents' responses and that is why they are included in the project.
Included in this CFI project:
- Boundary signage including repositioning to ACTUAL boundary.
- Village Entrances - changing signage and adding gates.
- Central Unique Village sign at crossroads - suggested with yew tree and 'Farringdon Village'. We need HCC permission etc for this - even if we have this made privately - Possibly utilising the skills of our village blacksmith and woodcarver.
- Plant troughs (we need highways permission and a licence for these if we were to use as a means of 'softening' the road side, e.g. next to MUGA layby A32)
- Double white lines from corner of Streethouse Farm to 40mph sign (numerous near misses due to overtaking and numerous emails with FIC pleading for this.
- Painted on road pedestrian walkway (like Beech) from just after Chase View to Jordans (numerous requests about walking concerns on Shirnall Hill). (THIS WILL NOT BE PURSUED - due to narrowness of road it is NOT FEASIBILE)
