The Garden

GST works in the large organic garden at the beautiful building currently known as Green Britain Centre, formerly Ecotech. The garden has a large fruit and vegetable garden. GST is very involved in the maintenance and planning of the garden and is keen to promote organic gardening. Within the vegetable garden we have a large raised beds section which enables more of our service users to garden. We teach a love of growing all sorts of plants and vegetables using organic methods from seed sowing right through to harvesting and understanding how to use the produce. We are very aware of the need to eat healthily and exercise properly but we are also absolutely convinced of the therapeutic benefits to be gained from being outside whenever possible, working communally, learning new skills and having those first delicious picks of the freshest fruit and vegetables. Experiencing the simple joys of nature watching is paramount. We are never too busy at GST to stop and look, smell, taste, feel and hear what is happening in the garden.
