Triolet

Triolet

Hopping beauty, squirrel, fence in distance
Robins fluttering at Christmas time
Countryside lost to my stance
Around my lively thoughts in the distance
Trees in Winter, swaying the storm stance
The grass away in Sundial time
Hopping beauty, squirrel, fence in distance
Robins fluttering at Christmas time.

The Way I Live

Let each minute take its minute
Let each day take its day
That's just the way I live
Let each minute take its minute
Life pays double what you give it
Whether work, rest or play
Let each minute take its minute
Let each day take its day

Gaily Go I

So gaily tripping, lightly skipping
Through the flowerbeds of life.
A promise to a fairy keeping;
So gaily tripping, lightly skipping.
I'm substance free - it's just me you're getting!
I proclaim, let merriment be rife.
So gaily tripping, lightly skipping
Through the flowerbeds of life.

Triolet

What lies ahead, o’er yonder hill?
Armies of the South are gathered.
Their mission – to wound, maim and kill.
What lies ahead, o’er yonder hill?
King Winklemas stopped imposing his will.
Wounded; his hand, withered.
What lies ahead, o’er yonder hill?
Armies of the South are gathered.

Yet  Another Triolet

Tree, tree, triolet.
Eight lines, two rhymes, let’s go!
Are you with me now?
Good, that’s the ticket!
Tree, tree, triolet.
You can write one; just lick it!
The last two lines you already know
Tree, tree, triolet.
Eight lines, two rhymes, let’s go!

Dawn

A new day is breaking
The early sky a hue of colour
The dawn chorus is terminating
A new day is breaking
People are rousing, bustling
I must call my mother
A new day is breaking
The early sky a hue of colour

My cat sits staring at the wall
And dreams of mice that run within
The dog is sitting in the hall
My cat sits staring at the wall
And dog's now howling at his bowl
He wants the food that's in the tin
My cat sits staring at the wall
And dreams of mice that run within

As dawn creeps in

The mist lies low across the plain
Horse's breath is dancing
As dog fox slinks along the lane
The mist lies low across the plain
Blackbird sings the dawn refrain
Winter sun is glancing
The mist lies low across the plain
Horse's breath is dancing.

Nights are long and days are cold
Gales blast all who venture out
Bitter hailstones sting and scold
Nights are long and days are cold
Punishing the frail and old
Twisting bones with pain and gout
Nights are long and days are cold
Gales blast all who venture out

Fox's cry cuts through the night
High and sharp as sickle moon
Sends a shiver down my spine
Fox's cry cuts through the night
Plea for love or call to fight
A melancholy midnight tune
Fox's cry cuts through the night
High and sharp as sickle moon

The one that got away

Silver fish slake downstream
River bank alive with life
Chub, Perch, Grayling, Bream
Silver fish slake downstream
The fisher wakes from his dream
Says good mornin' to the wife
Silver fish slake downstream
River bank alive with life.

Reanimate, remodel, born again
Silent blooms beneath concealed
New life burst forth from shade
Reanimate, remodel, born again
Came colours of spring, sometime then
Petals and buds to be revealed
Reanimate, remodel, born again
Silent blooms beneath concealed

Rain is falling, hard and fast
And streams against my window
It makes me think of times long past
Rain is falling, hard and fast
Love, like sunshine, does not last
I am lost in pensive shadow
Rain is falling, hard and fast
And streams against my window

The sea meets the sky as darkness falls
Soon it will be brighter, as this month grows
I watch the heather as it blows
The sea meets the sky as darkness falls
The sound of sea-gull calls
I walk my dog, and off she goes
The sea meets the sky as darkness falls
Soon it will be brighter, as this month grows
