Parish Allotments
The Parish Allotments, located off Everest Drive, provide a valued community facility for residents wishing to grow their own fruit, vegetables and flowers while enjoying the many benefits associated with gardening and outdoor activity.
Allotments continue to play an important role within the community by encouraging healthy lifestyles, wellbeing, sustainability and social interaction. They provide residents with the opportunity to enjoy fresh air, learn new skills, support local wildlife and produce home-grown food in a peaceful outdoor environment.
The allotment site consists of 41 individual plots which are managed by Hoo St Werburgh and Chattenden Parish Council and let under an annual tenancy agreement. The site is used by residents of all ages and experience levels, from first-time growers through to long-standing allotment holders.
Facilities and features at the site include:
- 41 individual allotment plots
- Access pathways throughout the site
- Water provision where available
- Secure access arrangements
- Open green space and natural surroundings
The Parish Council undertakes ongoing maintenance and management of the allotments to help ensure the site remains safe, accessible and well maintained for all tenants and visitors. Regular inspections and general upkeep are carried out to support the continued positive use of the site.
Due to continued demand, there is currently a waiting list for allotment plots. Residents interested in obtaining an allotment are encouraged to contact the Parish Clerk to request an allotment application form and to be added to the waiting list.
In accordance with the Parish Council’s allotment arrangements, plots are only available to residents of Hoo St Werburgh and Chattenden Parish.
