Your Parish Council

Hoo St Werburgh and Chattenden Parish Council is the first tier of local government and works on behalf of residents to represent the interests of the local community and help maintain and improve parish facilities and services.

The Parish Council is made up of 17 elected Parish Councillors who represent the residents of Hoo St Werburgh and Chattenden Parish. Councillors give their time voluntarily and work collectively to make decisions for the benefit of the community.

The Parish Council is responsible for a wide range of local services, facilities and community projects, including recreation grounds, play areas, allotments, open spaces, the Memorial Garden, community infrastructure projects and environmental improvements across the parish.

The Council operates through Full Council meetings, supported by committees and working groups which undertake detailed background work and make recommendations to Full Council for consideration. All formal decisions are made at properly convened public meetings in accordance with local government legislation and the Parish Council’s Standing Orders and Financial Regulations.

The Parish Council is supported by the Parish Clerk, who is the Council’s Proper Officer and Responsible Financial Officer, ensuring the Council operates lawfully, transparently and effectively on behalf of residents.

Residents are encouraged to attend public meetings, engage with consultations and contact the Parish Council regarding local matters, projects and community issues affecting the parish.
