We were waiting to leave for Stroud for our friendly fixture against Victory Park on Saturday 5th August, when the heavens opened in Malmesbury.

Our green was covered in hailstones in a matter of minutes. We drove over to Stroud wondering what awaited us for the afternoon.

Despite black clouds in the distance, we did not have any rain. Victory Park proved to be excellent hosts and an enjoyable afternoon was had by all.

Top marks to their caterers who provided a lovely salad for the post-match meal followed up with strawberries and cream. Definitely 10 out of 10.

The Smarties were won by Arthur, Pat, Ian and Paul which will teach Paul not to open his mouth too soon. The overall result was a draw as no one wanted to total up the individual rinks' scores.

The result is not important, so thank you to our hosts, Victory Park, for a very enjoyable game of bowls.
