Lord Mayor Treloar Home & College

This section is about the Lord Mayor Treloar Cripples Home & College 1907 - 1908

The site was acquired by Sir William Treloar in 1907, following an act of Parliament (Alton Military Hospital Act 1907) that allowed the site to be sold to him. His aim was to open a hospital for the treatment of children suffering from tuberculosis of the bones or joints and a college ‘to train crippled boys in skilled handicrafts to enable them to earn their own living’.

The first patients arrived on the 8th of September 1908.
