A message from our Captain - John Fitzgerald

The 2023 season ended on a high with [a visit from Kings Langley BC who were on there way to their tour hotel in Exmouth followed by] our closing day on 23 September.  [We entertained 35 players and visitors from Kings Langley to a sandwich and cake lunch and then had a six rink match.  This was played in great spirit with Kings Langley winning by one shot.]  Les Manwaring and Penny Allen arranged a series of challenging games [on closing day] that were "enjoyed" by all despite some highly questionable umpiring and the liberal awarding of penalty points. [Possibly include details of the winner and who got the most penalty points?]

On 5 October a major job was carried out on our green to help improve the drainage.  Contractors carried drilling and filling making 36,000 holes which were then filled in with a mixture of sand and aggregate {need to check details with Rich}.  Members helped by levelling out the little mounds {possibly add a photo} and providing tea and coffee for the contractors."

Best wishes      John
