Points to remember are:

Developments particularly in Aylesham and Eythorne/Elvington will bring increased traffic through our village.

Our village is also part of a rat run between the A2 and Sandwich/Deal.

We have minimal footpaths on our busy roads which are narrow and have blind bends.

Speed has been on ongoing issue. Our previous MP and the police have been involved prior to lockdown last year.

Lorries and waste skips have increased since the enlargement of the Aylesham industrial estate and waste depot.

There is an ongoing project with KCC regarding road safety though our village.

There has been NO traffic data collected by the developers of DDC for any road through our village.

 

·         The Strategic plans for Aylesham and Elvington are not justified because proportionate evidence has not been used in ascertaining the traffic impacts.  Aylsham and Elvington were outside the DDTM area and only ATM data on B0246 was collected.

·         The plan is not positively prepared. ONS (2018) predict 100% of the districts growth will be from net migration and the continued national policy emphasis on sustainable development requires that housing development to be concentrated in the three urban centres of the district, Dover, Deal and Sandwich, 71% of all dwelling are allocated on 3 out of town greenfield developments in Whitfield, Aylesham and Elvington, with Sandwich, Deal and Dover Town getting 2.7%, 2.3% and 9.1% respectively.

·         The proposed development at Snowdown Colliery is ineffective as the landowner confirms they have an existing tenant and this is not up for renewal or change. Given the requirement for a LDP to be ‘realistic about what can be achieved’ and ‘the need to work with landowners at an early stage in the plan-making process’, we believe this LDP fails to provide deliverable employment opportunities on site

·         The proposed development in Aylesham is unjustified.  The presentation of the combined employment sites by settlement type is misleading  and means the evidence is not proportionate.  Over 10 miles and an economic universe away from Aylesham, Sandwich’s employment – mainly at Discovery Park - is being cynically leveraged to justify the employment case for 1700 dwellings in Aylesham.
