About the Parish

Over Wallop is a rural parish located in the Test Valley, within the county of Hampshire. The parish includes the settlements of Over Wallop, Middle Wallop, Kentsboro, and the smaller hamlet of Palestine.

The area is shaped by the Wallop Brook, a seasonal chalk stream (winterbourne) that flows through the parish and contributes to the surrounding landscape and biodiversity. The parish lies within a wider downland environment, offering open countryside, walking routes, and long-distance views.

Local wildlife is an important feature of the area, with species such as water voles, birds, and other native fauna supported by the brook, hedgerows, and surrounding farmland.

The parish has a strong sense of community identity, supported by local amenities including a village shop, public house, playing field, children’s playground, and tennis court. The church hall and other community spaces are regularly used for events, meetings, and local activities.

Over Wallop has a long history of community resilience and cooperation, with residents coming together during national and local challenges, including wartime periods and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Community Involvement

Residents are encouraged to take part in parish life by attending meetings, contributing to consultations, and engaging with local initiatives.
