The 2026 P&D Champion of Champions Tournament was held, as usual, at the P&D’s President’s Club Lee-on-the-Solent over the Weekend of 5th & 6th September

First of All, we’d like to thank and pass our appreciation to the LotS Ladies and Men for Feeding and Supplying Beverages to all the Players, Spectators and Officials over the course of the Weekend.

Also to Umpire Danny Russell for endeavoring to get knocked out in 1st match!!

Finally, it was a Disappointment that only 12 Club Champions Turned U and then some said “Can only play today” despite it being Advertised as a WeekEnd Event!!

So onto the Matches themselves

1st Round

As there were only 12 Competitors 4 Lucky Bowlers could rest and watch the others toil on a Warm Morning in matches that proved to be the Recipe for all of the Games throughout - Tough See-Saw Battles till the Winner Finally got the Upper Hand

  • The Round threw up the 1st Surprise Result when Milton Park’s Dave Brown took on Purbrook Heath’s Paul Tappenden
    • Having Moved into a 10-5 Lead after 10ends, Dave then got Stuck as Paul Fought Back to be 14-11 in Front 6ends later
    • Dave then picked up a 3 on the 17th end to Tie the game
    • The Real Turning Point was the 4 Paul got on the 19th End and then Held his Nerve to run out the Victor on the 21st End 21-15
  • The next match to finish was that between Crofton’s Andy Watts and Emsworth’s Graham Nicholson
    • Andy took hold of the match in the early ends so that he was leading 13-5 after 10 ends
    • Graham then clawed his way back to reduce the deficit so that he was 11-16 down after 16ends
    • Andy then won the next 3ends and closed the game out on the 21st End 21-12
  • 3rd to Finish was match between Alexandra’s Neil Scutt and Naismith’s Ian White
    • This really was a Tense affair with Neil leading 11-9 after 14ends.
    • However, 5shots on the Next 2ends gave him the Breathing Space needed after 16 ends
    • Ends were then shared until Neil picked up a 3 on the 23rd End Wining 21-14
  • The last to finish was the match between 2 HeavyWeight Bowlers with Middleton Cup Credentials - Southsea Waverley’s Louis McCubbin and Leigh Park’s Jamie Ward
    • The match was level 13all after 16ends
    • Jamie then Picked up 6shots on the next 3ends and kept Louis’ gains down till he picked up a 2 on the 22nd End to win 21-16
