Walks 2022
March 2022 Circular Walk: From: ‘The Rising Sun, Nutbourne. Distance: 4 Miles. 10 walkers Lunch at ‘The Rising Sun’
Flat, mostly dry underfoot, six stiles. Weather: Good walking weather.
It was a good bright day and the six stiles were solid in construction so did not present too much of an obstacle. All the walkers seemed to enjoy the scenery of fields and vineyards with good views of the Downs. There was a lengthy muddy patch which was very difficult to
negotiate but everyone managed it without anyone falling into a quagmire. We were joined by two-non walkers for lunch. The pre-booked
lunches in the Rising Sun were excellent albeit the extra 10% charge for parties over eight seemed unreasonable.
April 2022 Circular Walk: From: around NT Petowrth Deer Park. Distance: 4 Miles. 12 walkers Lunch at ‘The Stonemasons Inn’
Flat, grassy paths mostly dry underfoot. Weather: Good walking weather.
The weather was perfect for this walk around the deer park which features many ancient trees that are hundreds of years old. The park itself was landscaped by Capability Brown so it is no surprise that every half a mile or so the view changes. There were a couple of hills to climb but well worth the effort. Lunch at the inn was well appreciated.
July 2022 Circular Walk: From: Okewood Hill, Ockley. Distance: 5.2 Miles. 10 walkers Lunch at ‘The Punchbowl Inn’
Fine sunny day. Weather: Good walking weather.
Another enjoyable walk in the Surrey hills. The weather threatened to rain but we got no more that a few spits and spots. Some good exercise followed by a typical pub lunch.
A circular walk from the Lambs Inn, Lambs Green. Distance 3 miles, 12 walkers with lunch at the Lambs inn.
Flat-ish, mostly very dry paths with 3 or 4 styles. Fields of somewhat stunted corn due to the lack of rain. Interesting
Church in Rusper on the way also some status of giraffes. An enjoyable lunch and good service at the pub afterward.
