About Our Line

Our line is currently about 400m long, extending from our Ropley High Level station at the west end of the main Watercressline station to the Four Acre Field Boundary. Your journey starts and ends at Ropley High Level where we have a pleasant looking station building. After an S bend you begin the steady climb at approximately 1 in 40 until you reach the summit of the line. Throughout the journey there are some very pleasant views across the countryside to the south.

As you reach the summit you will see on the LH (south) side our Loco Shed and yard closely followed by our Mess Room Shed and a long half height structure. This latter used to hold our carriages but is now used for wagon storage. As you pass this you begin the descent to the Four Acre Field (also known as Ropley Meadow) boundary.

As you reach the current end of the line at the Four Acre Field boundary once again on the LH side you will see two more structures with a yard in-between, which has the access roads to both of them. These containers are used for loco and carriage storage.

Then you begin the return journey to Ropley High Level. However, this is not the end! We do have plans to extend the line into Four Acre Field where we intend to put a balloon loop in which will mean that our services will no longer need to reverse for the return journey. We do hope that you enjoy your ride with us and will come back and see us again soon.
