Wkly report 23/8 - Disappointing home performance

The Town's A team bowlers good run came to an abrupt end on Wednesday with a surprise defeat at home to Dunmow's A team. In a low scoring game interrupted by rain the home side never got going, losing 25-40. This result and the results elsewhere mean that the Walden side's chances of upsetting the top two in next weeks final round of fixtures has now gone. The B IX were also at home and lost to promotion bound Stebbing. They go into their last fixture next week nervously looking over their shoulders.

There was better news for the Essex & Herts Seniors who ended a disappointing period with a hard-earned draw at Quendon. As a daytime league they have two weeks left of their season.

The season finale of the SBBL was a very pleasing affair with the Walden dside at home to Clavering Cloverleafs, who had knowcked them out of the cup earlier in the season. On their home green the Town's bowlers put on a strong show and cruised to a comfortable 65-42 win. They finished the season mid table with an even split of 8 wins and 8 losses.
