The Year 2019

This year out juniors have been very busy entering junior, club and county matches and have been representing Sawtry Bowls Club with the upmost talent and sportsmanship with the coaches having had very positive feedback throughout the season. You all are a xredit to yourselves and the club keep up the good work.

Our junior coaching sessions have seen new and old faces for this seasons training with ages ranging from 3 years old to 17 years of age playing. We have focused on allowing the juniors to fulfil their talent as well learning from experiences within the club. Towards the end of the season we gave the children more freedom which allowed them to play more matches and feel comfortable playing with their mates. Many of our juniors had also help support the coaches this year and helped with our younger members of the junior section. You all are excellent role models.

In the junior league this year we were able to enter 3 teams due to the growth in our junior section. The Maroon team placed first overall after winning against the Sawtry Gold Team, it was all down to the last bowl. The team manged by Maddy Leader, having previously one the title when she was a member of the team, was pleased to hear the juniors conducted themselves in a excellent manor on and off the rink.

Furthermore; this year we had many more juniors help the adults strive to success in their leave teams. We had Lewis Lawman, Thomas Whitikar, Samuel Bates, Harry Manning and Alfie Gardner help playing the men's A, B and C men's team. This is an excellent achievement well done to all our young members.

Friday morning competitions went well and the weather was typically brilliant for the juniors. We had children coming from Huntingdon this season which was great seeing them to get involved. Matches we fun but competitive with a different junior achieving a medal each week. All the juniors have conducted themselves well and done the club proud.

The junior section would like to give Maddy Leader  a special mention as she  went on to represent Huntingdonshire in the Amy Rose being he only lady to play from Sawtry. Maddy has been competing in this competition for many years now. The girls made it to through to the third round this year excellent progress and a massive well done to the team. The team would like to say a massive well done to the Manager Karen for all the hard work she has put into this team. If anyone who is under 31 would like a chance to compete please speak to Karen for more information.

If you would like to know how to get involved with our junior section please contact: Bernie Shannon or Karen and Maddy Leader.
