Year 2017

This year out juniors have been very busy entering junior, club, County and even two juniors went know to represent the county and played at Lemington Spa the National Bowls ground in the annual Amy Rose tournament.

Our junior coaching sessions have seen new and old faces for this seasons training with ages ranging from 3 years old to 13 years of age playing. We have focused on allowing the juniors to fulfil their talent as well learning from experiences within the club. Towards the end of the season we gave the children more freedom which allowed them to play more matches and feel comfortable playing with their mates.

In the junior league this year we unfortunately placed 4th but none the less we done well to make it to the final four having faced some fierce competition in early rounds; you done us proud guys!

Furthermore; we typically have our very own coach Maddy playing the ladies division one during the league season but this year we had many more juniors help the adults strive to success in their leave teams. We had Billie Gardner play in ladies division 3 with our other ladies which is great experience for her. We also had Lewis Lawman, Thomas Whitikar and Alfie Gardner help playing the men's C team and Lewis even had a couple games in men's B team, a great achievement for our juniors.

Friday morning competitions went well and the weather was typically brilliant for the juniors. We had children coming from Huntingdon this season which was great seeing them to get involved. Matches we fun but competitive with Billie winning the gold medal 3 times out of 6! And the refreshments were well enjoyed and deserved by the children.

With finals day approaching we have 3 juniors making it into the finals along side the adults, Billie in the triples, Lewis in the drawn pairs and under 18s singles and Maddy playing in all session in the Ladies two bowls singles chosen pairs and under 18s singles... well done to you all and we wish you the best.

The junior section would like to give Maddy Leader and Billie Gardner a special mention as these two went on to represent Huntingdonshire in the Amy Rose the only two ladies under 31 from Sawtry. Maddy has been competing in this competion for 6 years now and this was Billies first appearance. Unfortunately losing to Devon in the first round the girls put up a good fight to the winning team.
