Shropshire Council proposes to introduce a 50mph speed limit onto the following roads in Norton: B5061 Norton Crossroads
From a point 307 metres west of the centre of its junction with the B4394 Norton to Walcot road, to a point 302 metres east of the centre of that junction.
B4394 Norton Crossroads to Walcot road
From its junction with the B5061 at Norton Crossroads to a point 71 metres north of that junction.
B4394 Norton Crossroads to Wroxeter road
From its junction with the B5061 at Norton Crossroads, to a point 41 metres south of that junction.

Woodland planting plans at Attingham Estate At Attingham
The National Trust is preparing for its next season of woodland creation and would like to invite local residents to get involved. In October and November 2026, there will be opportunities for community volunteers to help plant trees at Attingham. This is a chance to make a lasting contribution to the local landscape, learn more about nature recovery, and be part of a project that will benefit both people and wildlife for many years to come. No previous experience will be necessary, and guidance, equipment and support will be provided by the Attingham team. Postal Vote Changes
Following a change to the law, the maximum length of time a voter can hold a postal vote changed from indefinitely to a maximum period of three years.
Postal voters can still register to vote by post for a particular poll or for a shorter period of time, but they can no longer hold a postal vote for longer than three years.
Electors who applied for a postal vote on or before 30 January 2025 are required to reapply for their postal vote by 31 January 2027.
This change has identified over 5,000 postal voters across Shropshire will have to apply again if they want their postal vote to remain in place for future elections.
We will be including information on the annual household canvass communications indicating if an electors postal vote is due to expire on 31 January 2027, and including a message directing them to apply online www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote. Anyone who hasn’t reapplied by mid-October will be sent a direct communication, by email or letter, advising them of the changes and encouraging them to reapply. Those who do not apply will have their postal vote deleted on 31 January 2027.
Those electors who have their postal vote deleted will be able to apply again after 31 January 2027 if they choose to do so, but if not, they will have to vote in the polling station or appoint a proxy to vote on their behalf.
Broadband - Project Gigabit: Update Premises in Wroxeter & Uppington Parish Council that don’t have current/planned full-fibre broadband coverage are included in Lot 25C, covering East & South Shropshire. According to the latest update from Openreach, their roll-out of full-fibre broadband is expected to be completed in the next 12 months in the Wroxeter area (Cross Houses exchange) and 12-24 months in the Uppington exchange area. Openreach has planned roadworks on the B5061 to the east of Norton crossroads at the beginning of next month.
