About Us
Wycliffe Bowls Club was founded in 1956 and is located at Hall Park in Hall Lane on the outskirts of Lutterworth, LE17 4LN .
The Club is a very friendly member’s club, run via a committee comprised of elected volunteers from the membership.
We have an excellent lawn bowls green and a large pétanque terrain either side of a modern clubhouse, which offers excellent facilities including a large clubroom, licensed bar, in-house catering facilities and player's changing rooms. With plenty of carparking for members and their guests, Wycliffe Bowls Club is also available for hire for such events as club meetings, presentations, birthday parties, etc.
The Club has something to offer players of all ages and abilities with new members most welcome. We have qualified coaches to guide and help in both sports so there is plenty of opportunity to take up a new sport or improve your game.
We operate throughout the year. During the outdoor bowls season, which runs from mid-April until the end of September, there are league matches and club competitions for competitive players. The club has two teams in the Hinckley Triples League and one Team in the South Leicester Triples League, whilst for recreational players we have friendly matches versus other clubs held on most Wednesday evenings and Saturday afternoons. There are also regular 'roll ups' for those who want to play and practice with other club members. During the winter, short mat indoor bowling is available in the clubhouse. This is very popular with members and is run on a weekday evening. In addition, we have a group of players who play indoor bowls at a local sports centre.
Pétanque is played all year round, playing one team in local, winter and summer leagues and as well as in-house competitions. Being a new addition to our offering, we hope to add further teams to the leagues as well develop players so that there will be opportunities to play at county and regional level. We are also open to hosting regional and national events as we have a large terrain offering ten pistes so there is plenty of room. Local U3A and WI groups are regular users and we hope to see 'twinning' groups on the terrain when they host their guests.
