The Jubilee Ponds Engagement Day, held in July 2021, attracted our first group of volunteers and we already have a mix of established and newer residents who share their passion about looking after the wonderful green spaces on our doorstep.

Our basic philosophy is to have fun, no committees and many hands make light work. Often the problem with volunteering groups is the onus ends up falling to a few dedicated people…..we intend to do our very best to avoid this situation.

Communication about volunteering activities is via a Group WhatsApp and we plan to use this website to keep a history of what's been achieved.

Activities focus around implementing the various tasks to be outlined in the Bleasby Green Spaces Matter five-year plan which will published later this year.

We started in August with the mammoth challenge of clearing the badly neglected Centenary Woods at Jubilee Ponds, which has now been transformed.

Work has also started on rejuvenating the Jubilee Ponds wild-flower meadow and making sure the pathways are kept clear and accessible

The creation of a den-building area has been an exciting new development and we hope this will be used by young children as a way of engaging them with the wildlife and nature on their doorstep.

As things progress there will be opportunities to help with smaller and occasional tasks along with non-physical activities.

So, if you are interested in helping out, meeting new friends (and old), having some fun and getting some exercise, please get in touch to find out more.

Just email: bleasbygrasshoppers@outlook.com with your contact details and Jo or Mike will call you back for a chat.
