Christmas Lights 2019

Father Christmas (and his elves) found time amongst his busy schedule to drop into Bleasby on December 7th to turn on the village lights.

Many families came together on Glebe Field before sunset to participate in a bauble hunt and Christmas quiz before congregating in St Mary's Church to help make festive decorations for the tree and inside the building. Folk had also made decorations at home using recyclable materials to bring along on the day.

Before leaving the church the village joined in with a few Christmas songs, led by the local U3A Folk Group. It was wonderful to see so many children taking part along with their families and teachers from Bleasby School.

Father Christmas led the way from the church back onto Glebe Field, followed by a procession of glowing faces of the children and adults alike. Then the countdown from ten, followed by Father Christmas ringing his bell, and "hey presto" Bleasby Christmas lights were on!

Children from Bleasby School then sang a few beautiful melodies which were enjoyed by a substantial audience from the parish. What a wonderful way to start the festivities.

Merry Christmas to all.
