Remembrance Sunday Stones
Bleasby Parish Council
Dear families, in view that, owing to Covid restrictions, Remembrance Day services cannot be held in the church or the village, we invite the children of Bleasby, Gibsmere and Goverton to produce painted stones with appropriate symbols and/or messages to mark the occasion - any theme relating to Remembrance would be lovely - poppies are particularly appropriate.
Then your stones can be carefully placed on the hard surfaces around the air-crews memorial or the churchyard war memorial. This will remind everyone of the sacrifices made by so many people during wartime for our freedoms.
The idea has been taken up by local groups – the photo shows some produced by a member of the First Trentside Scouts which is based in Lowdham.
Stones could be added at any time but ideally by Remembrance Sunday which is on 8th November and no later than 11am on Remembrance Day, Wednesday 11th November.
Many thanks
Peter Cast, on behalf of the community.
