Bovey Tracey are proud to announce that Kenny Breame, Chris Shorland and Roger Bailey (pictured) have won the Devon County Section 5 final of the Men's Unbadged Triples, winning by 20 shots to 11 against strong opposition from Shaldon. The Bovey team made the most of home advantage to race into an early lead before Shaldon got going to level the score but, following a five on one end, Bovey forged ahead to run out worthy winners. They will now play in the Devon quarter final at Seaton on a date to be confirmed.
Bovey were also represented in another section final by Tyler Smith and Alastair Franklin playing in the Men's Unbadged Pairs against Abbrook Park. This was their first ever final at this level and, although putting up a good fight, they were ultimately beaten by an experienced pair. Nevertheless, this will only make them stronger next time and they can feel proud to have made it so far.
In the Ladies' South Devon League, Bovey played two matches during the week, winning both to gain some much needed league points. At home against Dawlish Marina, a great performance resulted in a win by 8 points to 2 and at Belgrave another strong showing led to Bovey taking all 10 points.
Another excellent showing in the Ladies' Triples Challenge against Ipplepen resulted in Bovey taking all 6 league points.
However, the Men's Over 55s teams did less well this week with the Xmen slipping up at Bitton Park and the Ys losing at home against the same opponents, both losing by 8 points to nil.
