Datchworth Bowls Club was officially opened in 1979 and its membership consists of local people from surrounding villages and communities. Described as a social community club that just happens to play bowls sums up the friendly social membership that welcomes players of all abilities.

The club is affiliated to Bowls England, Hertfordshire Bowls, Letchworth & District Bowls Association, East Herts Bowls League and Welwyn Hatfield Bowls League and North Herts Women's Bowls Association

The outdoor season runs from April to September and members enjoy mixed competitive games for people of all abilities from informal roll-ups, fixtures against local clubs, and league competitions. We enter teams in the Men's County League, Women's County League, East Herts Bowls League (2 Men's teams), North Herts Women's Bowling Association, Welwyn Hatfield Bowls League (mixed), Stevenage & District Mixed Bowls League.

The members also enjoy an annual bowls tour during the first week of September usually to the coast where we play local clubs. In 2025 we had a wonderful time on the Isle of Wight.

From October to March we play Short Mat Bowls in Datchworth Village Hall as well as Indoor Bowls.
