Ladies County Finals 29th August

Saturday 29th Augustwas finals day for our Ladies. Steve Arnold reports:

“Congratulations and bloody well done to the four Ladies, Rachel, Janet, Chris and Jan, who played in the Finals of the East Area Finals of the County's Women's County League, at Hertford today. It was the first time our Ladies have reached the East Area Finals of the County League, and even more reasons to congratulate them.πŸ‘ŒThey beat their counterparts from Sawbridgeworth in the Semi Final.πŸ‘

After lunch they then played their counterparts from Bishop's Stortford in the final. They lost the first end but by the 14th end they were 11-7 up. But once the BS Ladies got the jack back they set long jacks and won the remaining ends to win by 20-12. But, that does tell even half of what they did. It rained on and off for the whole day. In truth it was a bloody awful day to play bowls, but our ladies played through it all and did themselves proud and proved that they are no pushovers.😊 These congratulations should also be shared by the rest of our Ladies that played in the League matches that got them to the Finals in the first place. Without them they would not have gone the season undefeated”. πŸ™Œ

There was a very good turnout from the members of the club who turned out to support the ladies and encouraged them throughout the day. At one point the ladies captain from Bishops Stortford remarked that we were a very noisy lot which of course only spurred us on even more.

Now onto the Men. Congratulations and well done also go to Dickie, Les and Jim, who beat Harry Wright's Triple from Sele Farm in the Semi Final of the East Herts Bowls League's Men's Triples competition at Ware last night and are now through to the Final, which will be held on 12th September at Welwyn and District Bowls Club
