Tuesday 1st September
I’ve omitted to convey a couple of facts about two of the members on tour which you may not be aware of.
- Did you know that Ian Green is claustrophobic? It came to light when we were waiting to get off the coach yesterday. What seemed to be impatience to nearly everyone was in fact a cry for help. “For Christ sake hurry up I’m getting claustrophobic at the back here waiting for you lot to get a move on” Very sad.🫤
- We have all heard how Ian Taylor came to pull a calf muscle; several variations exist but the important elements are that it happened in the bedroom, he was jumping off the bed/wardrobe and Linda was not involved, or so she says. Trying to sound sincere I asked him how long this situation would last and he said that he hopes to be crotchless by the end of the month.🩲
On Tuesday morning some of us took the local bus to visit Cockington Country Park.
After a bit of lunch on the terrace we headed off to Babbacombe Bowls Club, a very welcoming and friendly bunch of people. A great afternoon game of bowls which we won overall 103 shots to 89. Throughout the afternoon Grahams team looked unbeatable to be top rink but by some fluke Steve Arnold’s team took the honours with lots of support from Gill Parsley, Rachel Evans and Ian Green. We won on four out of the five rinks but we won’t divulge the losing team😢
Once again Maureen Blunt organised our evening entertainment with a game of Mr & Mrs. To say some people were useless at grasping the principle and rules would be a huge understatement; I had promised not to embarrass David Stock while on tour but what the heck.
