Competitions

There are a number of different competitions, both internal and external. Internal competitions include singles, pairs, handicap and one designed for new members which restricts entrants to those who have not previously won an internal singles competition.

External competitions include League games such as the LX (over sixties league) or NWK ( North West Kent league) playing once a week or fortnight.

For Experienced Bowlers play will be in a variety of League and County games playing three or four times a week

It is for you to choose how much time you want to dedicate to the sport, but basically there should be something for everybody, whether you are a social bowler or more advanced.

If you think you would like to enter any of these Competitions put your name down at the beginning of the year.

If you are uncertain, talk to the Men's or Ladies' Captain for advice and guidance.

Good Luck!

Arranging Matches for Internal Competitions

The matches to be played and the dates they are to be played by are displayed on the notice boards in the dressing rooms. If your name is above your opponent's, it is your responsibility to make the arrangements. Telephone numbers for members to enable this are available in the clubhouse. Someone to act as adjudicator/keep score (a “marker”) should also be arranged. Failure to arrange a match by the allotted date may result in a default.

Booking a rink

There is a diary on the desk in front of the kitchen serving hatch. Just enter your name and the competition name (if appropriate) in this. If playing before 12:00, ensure that this does not conflict with the greenkeeper's activities.
