There was a poignant gathering of family and locals on Sunday morning (21st January 2024) on Paddlesworth Farm at the top of Ladds Lane to mark eighty years today that a 20-year old 2nd World War pilot fatally crashed at the spot. The great niece of Flying Officer Denis Page had brought along family photos and read a short biography before laying a wreath. Local RAF trumpeter Robin Harris sounded the Last Post followed by a minute's silence then Reveille. Current farmer of the land Martin Lingham was joined by his cousin Andrew LIngham of Court Farm at the gathering and Andrew invited everyone to reconvene at the Moot Brewery at the Farm to drink in commemoration, which was a very welcome touch.

It was a fitting memorial gathering to one of the many heroes of the 2nd World War who lost their lives so young.
